Shadow is the hidden and repressed part of us. For example, if in your childhood you were discouraged from trusting yourself you throw that into the Shadow and become detached from your intuition - which makes life hell. It's in our personality and often can do us harm if we're blind. Why? Because what we're not conscious about works against us and the moment we see the Shadow, talk to it, and dive deeper into ourselves it no longer is dangerous. It's like becoming friends with your inner monsters. Awareness is the key to growth.
I personally believe that Shadow Work is one of the hardest steps of spiritual or personal growth. It's painful, it's hard to accept some things, and there is always resistance when you start asking yourself questions. But it's vital because this allows you to face your fears and become close to your best self. Shadow work helps me to realize how many things i don't allow myself to do because of different traumatic experiences and social conditioning. Day by day it makes me closer to the person i want to become.
Start asking yourself questions. My favorites are "What made me start doubting myself as a kid?" and "When was the last time i forgave myself?". You can find plenty of them on Pinterest!
